I know it is subjective and a matter of taste, but I recently installed an
oak-finish fiberglass entry door. My wife wants a storm door cuz she feels
safer with the extra barrier. I am not sure what color would go with the
oak. My thought is to buy a black storm door, and paint the shutters black
to match.

Below is what the house looks like (before the oak door was put in).

Any thoughts on what would look best.

Nice looking property.

I think it's too dark in there, white.

You can get a white storm that is mostly screen/glass
if you don't want to cover half the door.

Something basicly ugly, like a storm door, shouldn't be a focal point.
Dark brown or black, so it doesn't contrast with the oak door. Style of
storm as in your pix is best, IMO. Pretty house.

You could tell the wife that the city requires "storm doors" to be
florescent orange...

Nice house. First thing you should do is make sure a storm door can be
used with the fiberglass door. It might trap too much heat and warp the
door.
That said--Are your shutters brown now? They look black in the pic.
Shouldn't
the frame of the storm door be consistent with the window frame color
(white)?
If your shutters are brown now, do they not match the door already?

fiberglass doors should NOT have a storm door on it.
the fiberglass will warp and the seals around the door glass will leak
oil.
most mfr's. will not warranty fiberglass doors if a storm door is used.

Is that doorway mostly protected from direct
sunlight by the overhang? If so, use lexan,
with just enough frame around it to attach the
latch and hinges.

Yes, the house faces due north, and never receives direct sunlight. But a
very good point otherwise.
