Tighten up only enough to stop the leak or you could make the situation worse. As far as sweating copper, is the valve truly soldered on? A lot of them are put on with compression fittings. If it is you can remove the valve by unscrewing the compression nut and then using a compression nut/faucet handle puller to pull of the old nut and sleeve. A puller costs about $10.00 at Home Depot or Lowes. |

If you snug it down and it don't leak, it is fixed. Buy the 1/4 turn so you don't have to do this again next time. |
