Default compound miter sliding chop saw?

What is the difference between these saws? I understand the compound miter
saw has a sliding action which allows you to cut a wider piece of wood than
a miter saw. But what is a *sliding* compound miter saw?? Does it slide more
than a compound miter saw?

I' not an expert, but I'll weigh in;
chop saw- body of the saw moves up and down in a arc- cuts 90 degrees
only.

miter saw- body swings in an arc horizontally lockable to various
degrees, as well as what the chop saw does.

compound miter saw- does everything the last 2 did + the body also
rotates side to side.

sliding compound miter saw- does every thing the last 3 did plus slide
in and out against the fence, perhaps combining the chop at the
beginning of the slide to cut a really big board.

The best thing about the sliding compound miter saw is that before this
was offered you need a really big blade to cut larger pieces, 18"
blades weren't uncommon where big stuff was being cut.

A compound miter saw does not slide. Only sliding compound
miter saws slide. The slide allows for wider stock to be cut.

Look here for examples:

miter say can make a straight up and down cut at various angles, chop
saws may not be able to be angled.
compound miter can make a cut that isn't straight up and down (the
blade can be angled to the surface) and can also swing up to 45 degrees
either way
sliding miter can be used like a miter and then pulled to increase the
length of the cut
sliding coumpound combines the 2

Chop saw was originally a term for a metal cutting saw with an abrasive
blade. The term is often used for a miter saw.

And then there is the jig saw and the saber saw terms that have changed over
the years. .
