The arthritis in my hands have informed me that using a manual stapler is no
longer an option. In the past I have tried a couple of the $39 wonders. On
average I would say it worked out to about $3 per use.

I would rather pay a good price once than to replace it several times. Air
is not an option for the type of jobs that I do.

I know Durafast make a good 3/16" model. I saw a Crown brand on Ebay earlier
today. What are some other brand names who sell a quality 3-4/16" crown
stapler capable of driving 9/16" staples into hard wood.

I've yet to see an electric one that is worth a damn. Look for ways to use
air. The small compressors are cheap, but if you can't have one for some
reason, an air tank will work, but you have to fill it up every 100 shots or
so. I'm sure you have reasons for not considering air, but it would be well
worth the time to figure a way so that you can. Solid stapling every time
into hardwood.

Why is air not an option. I own and electric and it is crap. I have
several air nailers brad, finish, angle finish and crown staplers. The
electric was used for upholstery type work (fabric covered cornices). After
giving up on the electric, I bought a cheap upholstery stapler from Harbor
Freight. It work 1000% better than the electric. As suggested already.
Figure out a way to use air. Even if you have to use one of those air cans
that you have to refill. You could keep the compressor outside and refill
the tank every so often. Porter Cable may even make a cordless version but
I've never looked.

Paslode makes an airless (butane) stapler but it is a 16 gage unit, a
little burly

Sorry but if you say air is out of the question, you will not really be
happy with ANY stapler you get. Not one electric one is worth much
compared to even the cheapest air powered ones.

Buying an air compressor isn't that big a deal any more. Check out
Harbor Freight's offers. They have one that goes on sale for $89 every
few months that is an oil bath unit and runs all kinds of nailers and
staplers without a problem.

The new server has been and is down for the last 4-5 days. Had to open a
new account to get back here.

I already have a compressor and an air stapler. In my line of work I can't
haul all the toys all the time. I might only use a stapler once a week. And
then as in this last case, I might use it all day one day twice a year.
Still don't have room to haul the compressor; even for that one day.

I know the cheap crap doesn't work. For the last 20 years I have done the
small jobs with a T-50.

It has taken 2 weeks for the swelling to go down from the last job where I
did more than a few staples in the same day.

The carpet guys use the electric models with some success.

I am looking for the best suggestion.
