I have some small drywall patching to do in a bathroom where the vanity
countertop was removed. After patching i need to texture (knockdown texture). It will only be a few ~ 3" X 6" areas. What's the best way to put on small amounts of texture to match a knockdown texture?? Does Home Depot or other places have texture in spray cans?? |

On the last coat, just apply the drywall cmpd in the area so that
portions of the new cmpd are slightly above the finished surrounding area. Allow to almost completely dry, then take your widest putty/drywall knife and "knock down" the raised parts by pushing the blade over it at a shallow angle. By the last repair, you'll get it. HD doesn't have knock-down in a can. Tom |

How do you apply that last coat to make portions slightly higher? Do
mean like skip troweling?? Do you use a regular drywall knife for that? |

By 'flipping', do you mean kinda splattering it on the wall in small

Practice on sheetrock, cardboard, or whatever you can get your hands
on. Splatter on watered down joint compound, wait 15 minutes or so and knock it down with a trowel. For such a small area you could use a paint brush, turkey baster, straw, roller, etc to apply the splatter. Keep practicing until you get a process that matches the original. |

Use an old whisk broom, thin mud, and flick it on. Just a very little at a time, until you have matched what's there. Let it dry for a while, then knock down. Practice on a piece of scrap sheetrock.
