Default Pool Cleaner Install

We have a new pool cleaner that we want to install through the skimmer.
There is a place in the pool for it but the plumbing was never completed,
the pipe is just sticking up out of the ground next to the pump and we would
rather not have to re-do the plumbing to use the cleaner.

The regulator valve that came with it does not slow the water down enough.
Is there some kind of valve that we can buy to use at the skimmer end to
slow down the water being pumped. There is nothing at the pump end to do
it, either. (Our neighbor has something at the pump end that he can use to
adjust the water flow). Thanks.

The incomplete plumbing could be a separate vacuum line for the skimmer,
or it could be a supply line for a pressurized (booster) type cleaner.

From your description it sounds like you have a vacuum type cleaner.

The regulator valve that came with it does not slow the water down
enough. Is there some kind of valve that we can buy to use at the

Do you have a floor drain as well as a skimmer? Usually there is a 3
port Jandy valve in the connection between the floor drain and skimmer
that allows you to adjust the relative amount of water drawn through
each. That is likely what your neighbor has. Frankly, it would be just
as easy to connect the Jandy valve between the pre-plumbed vacuum line
(assuming that is what that is) and the skimmer as it would be to
connect the floor and skimmer drains. And of course, if you don't have
a floor drain then this would be your only choice.
