Default Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerator

About a month ago, I bought Frigedaire side-by-side 26 gallon
regrigerator (FRS26H5A SB5). So far I am happy with the fridge but

one
thing. Water from water dispenser is not cool. First glass is

always
warmer than room temperature! Initially I couldn't figure it out

why
and tried lowering temeperature settings. But problem persists. So

I
tried putting my finger directly under running water from the
dispenser. To my surprise, for a second or two, it was actually
outputing hot water. I have to make a guess and my guess is atleast
150 degree F. This is just for 1st glass, say may be after 10 min

gap.
So if it takes 5/6 sec. to fill one glass of water, I get 1 or 2
second of cold water, then 1 or 2 seconds of warm/hot water

followed
by 3/4 sec. of cold water again. I tried explaining this to

Frigidaire
guy on phone but he says this is normal. As per him, its because of
vicinity of hot tubing running along side of dispenser tubes. (in

that
case thats a design flaw right there!) I am planning to call

service
person to take a look even if I have to pay them a little. (Even if
its covered under warrantee, if they deem as normal, they say they
will charge me for the visit).

Has anybody seen this type of problem before? with Frigedaire of

any
other brand refrigerator? I will really appreaciate if you can

share
your thoughts/experiences.

Thank you,
Mandar Joshi

I have a Whirlpool side-by-side and the water is cold from the first

drop.
Is the water/ice dispensing area light always on? Maybe the light

bulb is
heating the water.-Bill Brown

Mandar,

Did the service tech find the problem?
I purchased the same Frigidaire model in September 2003. Since then I
couldn't figure out why the light bulb in the fridge side was burning
out every 3 months or so. Just last week while changing yet another
bulb I found the problem. The light bulb is always on! Thanks for the
tip Bill. When the door closes, it doesn't push the light switch
far enough to turn it off. The light bulb is heating up the water
reservoir and spoiling the food on the top shelf. The area around
the bulb is all yellow from the heat and the socket is crumbling
to pieces. The one-year warranty is over but I'm still going to phone
Frigidaire Canada and see what can be done about it. It's not like
something broke out of warranty. It was there from the start.

Let me know how it turns out from your side.

Regards,

Juna

Angry

This refrigerator (FRS26H5A SB9) has SEVERAL design flaws ... The warm water is a minor one ... I just half fill, dump, refill, and drink! But the Ice maker makes me crazy ... the arm that stops ice making when full is SEVERAL inches above the access flap at the front of the ice pan and the thing basically will make ice until the freezer compartment is full unless I manually stop it. The manufacturer was nice enough to cover the installation of an add-on tab to fix this but the repair resulted in the arm no longer rising during the ice maker cycle so it doesn't work anyway. and since it was summer with heavy ice usage, the problem wasn't evident for several weeks and the repair will now be at MY expense.!@#@*!!! Add to that the fact that in the short time I've qwned this unit ... the deli drawer and guide broke, two door shelves broke, the $65 vegetable drawer broke, and just yesterday the actuator paddle for the water dispenser broke ... which solves my problem with warm water!!!!!

DO NOT BUY A FRIGIDAIRE!@!!!!

I bought this unit to replace a 15 year old GE model that did not match my kitchen remodel. Boy do I ever regret that decision. The GE model NEVER had a problem. I can't imagine that we suddenly became ogres after the remodel and are exceptionaly rough on the new model. It's just a piece of Doo-doo.

DO NOT BUY A FRIGIDAIRE!@!!!!
