wrote: This is going to get ugly real fast http//www.palmbeachpost.com/ business/contwent/business/epaper/2009/07/08/Cpscdrywallupdate.html Something happens like the scandal with the toxins in the toys produced there, and you figure "Well, they're just getting rid of that stuff by dumping it into products to sell to gullible westerners", but then toxic drywall, bird flu, Chinese programmers attempting numerous times to hack into Pentagon computers, etc. That puts me in mind of a book written by two PLAF colonels called "Total War", in which they advocated the idea that China could defeat the US by using an "asymetrical" type of strategy, involving attacks of numerous types, such as bio-attacks, computer network attacks, etc. I remember this toxic drywall thing, and you have to figure the problems involved with it. Building supply centers having problems and having to have the stuff analyzed and shipped, people who've put it in their homes having to have them possibly detoxified, the medical system having to absorb the possible costs of treatment, and there could be some people over there sitting back and watching how much trouble a relatively "small" problem causes. I don't want to go into that whole "yellow peril" type of thing; I don't believe in that at all, but you know sometimes it seems like those wiley Chinese just might be up to something. |
