Something happens like the scandal with the toxins in the toys
produced there, and you figure "Well, they're just getting rid of that
stuff by dumping it into products to sell to gullible westerners", but
then toxic drywall, bird flu, Chinese programmers attempting numerous
times to hack into Pentagon computers, etc.
That puts me in mind of a book written by two PLAF colonels
called "Total War", in which they advocated the idea that China could
defeat the US by using an "asymetrical" type of strategy, involving
attacks of numerous types, such as bio-attacks, computer network
attacks, etc.
I remember this toxic drywall thing, and you have to figure
the problems involved with it.
Building supply centers having problems and having to have the
stuff analyzed and shipped, people who've put it in their homes having
to have them possibly detoxified, the medical system having to absorb
the possible costs of treatment, and there could be some people over
there sitting back and watching how much trouble a relatively "small"
problem causes.
I don't want to go into that whole "yellow peril" type of
thing; I don't believe in that at all, but you know sometimes it seems
like those wiley Chinese just might be up to something.
