If you know you are going to replacing the whole unit, cut one very large hole, much larger than the fan, in fact all the way over to the wall if it is nearby (as this will facilitate finishing the new drywall). Then you will have plenty of room to tear out the old one, and to hang the new one, and make all the ducting and electrical connections. Look at it this way - for any hole you cut up to 4 feet by 8 feet, you still only have to buy ONE sheet of gypsum board. Reply to NG only - this e.mail address goes to a kill file. |
