Vertical Sweep Chip
Hello,
I have a Philips model 35P550 C101 TV and I believe the vertical sweep chip is out. I do not have a lot of test equipment.. a multimeter is really the only test gear that I have. The TV was given to me so if I fry it I'm not too worried about it it will have been a good learning experiecnces (I have taken all the necessary precautions not to fry myself). My first question is how do I locate the Vertical IC? If I locate and replace the IC what are the chacnes that is the only problem or is there a good chance more components will need replaced? It's an older but nice TV here is are a few picture of the main board if that helps http://www.starsick.com/tv2/ Thanks in advance for any guidance you can give me. Josh |

Probably going to be more than just the vertical output. Follow the yoke
leads back to the main board, one pair go directly to the horiz deflection the other pair to the vertical deflection. "Js" wrote in message oups.com... There is a horizontal white line in the center of the screen. The guy
who gave me the TV originally took it in for repair and was given that diagnosis but then decied to buy a new TV. keyboard and composed: My first question is how do I locate the Vertical IC? If I locate and replace the IC what are the chacnes that is the only problem or is there a good chance more components will need replaced? I don't know your particular model, but can you post the part numbers of likely ICs? Look for an IC on a heatsink, probably in a SIP. It should be located near the yoke connector(s). Check the supply to this IC. It will probably come from a winding on the flyback transformer via a fusible resistor. Replace the electrolytic capacitors in the vicinity of this IC, and also replace the smaller caps in the main power supply as a precaution. - Franc Zabkar -- Please remove one 's' from my address when replying by email. |

And when you find it, check any fusible resistors in the area, one or more of them will usually open up when the chip fails.. |
