David Foster: The part you need to fix this older VCR is NLA. When it was available in the late 80's the DC/DC converter module was about $20 back then. Look around at garage sales or thrift stores..... you might be able to buy a similar VCR (RCA, Hitachi or Sears branded) that you can scavenge the part from. There is no "work around" with generic components so you really need the correct part to perform the repair. Is it more than a DC source? If not, you could always just build a little power supply to sub for the DC-DC converter. --- sam | Sci.Electronics.Repair FAQ Mirror: http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/ Repair | Main Table of Contents: http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/REPAIR/ +Lasers | Sam's Laser FAQ: http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/sam/lasersam.htm | Mirror Sites: http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/REPAIR/F_mirror.html Note: These links are hopefully temporary until we can sort out the excessive traffic on Repairfaq.org.
