Default Convergence problem with Pioneer P5073 projection TV?

I believe that I am having a problem with my convergence STK on my
Pioneer SD-5073 rear projection TV. The problem started a few months
back and would appear more frequently as time went on. Now it is
constant, appearing the entire time the TV is turned on. Here is the
problem:

Everything looks good in the middle of the screen, but as you look to
the outside edges (approx. 10" on the left and right sides of the
screen) there appears to be blue and yellow shadows outlining many of
the images. The further you look toward the left and right edges, the
further the separation of the blue and yellow shadows.

Otherwise the TV is working fine. I have done a good amount of
research and believe the problem may lie in a failing STK4277SL chip.

What I am looking for is confirmation that this will resolve my
problem. If there are other causes for this kind of behavior, could
someone let me know what else I might check?

Thanks in advance for your responses

That device, probably poor solder connections on that board, and maybe small
value resistors that may have changed values.
