Default How to open Panasonic vcr remote?

Hi

Have just bought a secondhand Panasonic NV-HS950B vcr (European model).
Seller was upfront that remote isn't working due to the small vcr/tv plunge
button under the flip top being stuck down. Easily fixed think I...

Have removed the one small screw and am now faced with the still sealed
remote which flexes slightly open at the screwed end but is otherwise locked
fairly tight.

Can anyone advise me on how to open this (particular) remote? In common
with so many others I assume it's either a pull or pry apart or maybe
sliding to unlock some catches but I'm a bit reluctant to go in full steam
considering a replacement is around £90!!

many thanks

Tim

Get one of those 6" pocket type stainless steel rules and use the
rounded end to gently pry the two halves apart. Slide the rule along
the seam, while gently pulling the two halves apart. You may have to
angle the rule slightly as you go. There will be several small
latches, and once started, the rest will separate fairly easily. Works
on most remotes, and doesn't mar the finish like a screwdriver does.

Also, make sure there aren't any hidden screws under labels, etc.

many thanks

Check for screws hidden in the battery compartment as well, that's a
usual trick.

thanks Tim - as it happened it was just the one screw and a careful sliding
with a ruler along the seam did the trick... unfortunately I was then able
to see that the reason the remote isn't working isn't so much to do with a
stuck button as the pcb is cracked in two.......

Are the traces copper or carbon? If copper, you can solder a jumper across
the cracks. If carbon, try flexing the board to open the crack and then
putting in a bit of graphite. When you let the board come back it should
hold the graphite particles in.
