Panasonic DVD/cd Home Stereo
Hello all,
I was reading a previously discussed matter on a Panasonic dvd player, about how his player would play for 30 minutes or so, and quit. However, my player will start to read the disc and quit after just getting started. It won't play dvd's or cd's. After trying to read the disc a couple of times it says, "no disc". I've tried cleaning the lens with a special lens cleaner and still the same thing. Also, I bought this player while I was on a one year tour in Korea. It has to have the adapter for 110 volts. Although, that seems like something I should be worried about, the tape player and radio still work fine. The player is only about 2 years old. Can anybody refer me to what I can do with my player. I appreciate your response, Joseph |

In your case, it may be the pickup, maybe not. I've seen some Pioneer units,
for example, which may read the first few seconds, then freeze, and the problem is a bad I.C. Problem is, unless there's a known problem on these, an out-of warranty repair is probably not cost-effective. Since yours was bought overseas, Panasonic U.S. will feel no obligation to help you out. Panasonic DVD/cd Home Stereo
Hey Thank you, Mark
What about if there is a known problem. In the 2002, I was reading an email about the same problem after I sent the email to the group, and Panasonic was reimbursing those particular consumers. Actually, there was a class action suit against Panasonic. However, my model number was not on there list. This problem seems to be a common one. Is there a schematic for model# SA DK10 Mini Home Stereo, or can you tell me which IC chip it is and where I can find one. There is a tiny chip(about as big as my thumb), on top of the changer. Would that be the one? I repair commo equipment for the Army. This won't be much different. Thanks again, Joseph "Mark D. Zacharias" wrote in message link.net... I was just making general statements - I have no idea which if any chip
might cause your problem. Pickups are still the number one cause of DVD player malfunctions, and they're still rather expensive. The Panasonic class-action suit involves older models using the VED0378 pickup, if memory serves. You can try Panasonic customer service and see if they'll help you out, but as I said, since yours was purchased overseas, Panasonic USA will likely feel no obligation to help out. Mark Z.
