Many drives have a tiny hole on the front panel into which you can insert the
end of an opened paperclip, or a small screwdriver, to manually eject the tray. If this doesn't work, open the computer and remove the drive. |

A CD can break up while it is spinning in the drive. Two times I have seen the result of this happening, not a pretty sight :-( -- Uffe |

In my world Dual or Quad speed drives are not capable of ridiculous RPMs and these drives I'm talking about were quad speed. Knowing that Mythbusters failed this one I still believe what I've seen. -- Uffe |

I'd be more concerned that a CD went in with a minor crack, and the rotational speed did impact on it. Not a mere 1X drive, but some of them can go considerably faster. I seem to recall the FAQ warns about CDs in faster speed, but I don't recall details. Michael |
