Since the late 80s, these have become standard as the heart of home
stereo/video systems where only separate components would do. Current models have every type of input/output on them, from RCA(composite) to ports labeled "digital", along with S-Video & component. Every incoming video signal(from the cable/satellite box to the gaming console to the DVD to the VHS to the Selectavision - you get the point!) goes through this huge receiver before hitting the TV screen or another A/V component. What will happen to A/V receivers that are "late model"(bought between 2003 - 2006) on February 17, 2009 - as far as their ability to distribute video to the required components in a modest home theater? -ChrisCoaster |
