My turntable is not working too well. It's difficult to get it spinning. I'm
told it does not have a belt. I would guess then that it has a motor. Does anyone know about the repairs for it? Could this potentially be more than a motor replacement? -- Wayne Watson (Nevada City, CA) Web Page: home.earthlink.net/~mtnviews |

Well worth taking the circlip of the centre spindal, lifting off the
platter and giving it a good clean, and perhaps a drop of froil (very thin oil, available from model shops) There is an electrical adjustment, but cleaning it worth doing first. As it turns out, it looks like three very small hex screws hold it down.
Oddly, when I had it tilted to look more closely it started moving quite well. I then made the usual adjustments and now its doing quite well. I think some fine oil is still the ticket. W. Could this potentially be more than a motor replacement? The most common problems on these involve cleaning the controls and switches. The speed select, speed vernier adjustments, possibly the power switch and internal coarse speed adjustments. Mark Z. |
