Make surre that the DVD media type is compable to your recorder. Some
recorders may not be able to record all of the media standards.

It is also possible, that something in the record section of your unit
has failed. This can be caused by many things!

What you experienced is a common problem. Take care that the DVD+R disks are
not playable in many of the home entertainment type DVD players. It is
mostly the computer DVD units that can decode the +R standard. It may be a
good idea of upgrading the DVD player in your computer. The +R is not a
popular standard, and is decreasing in its popularity.

Only half the story, I think :-)

If you record a DVD +R disk, you need to 'finalize' it.

Finalize is just a function on your recorder; it only takes a few
minutes. Results:
- you cannot change or append anything on the disk afterwards and
- You can play the disk on almost any player.

I believe the reverse is true. It's -R/RW that is going out.

I have an older Pioneer DVR-A03 (IIRC) which ONLY does -R and -RW.

I have a newer DVR-109 which does them all.

I just played a +R recording done on the newer Pioneer, on an older Sony
player. No problem.

I have two players, one of which (Akai) only reads +R. My burner prefers
+R/RW also, as does my DVD recorder.
