Happens here and I'm trying to ascertain if it's supernews or the ISP. A route trace tells me supernews has their ICMP TTL screwed up creating false hops. Once in a while they seem to go offline for 30 second or so, but not often. I think Supernews was acquired by someone lately, but I use them just the same. I suppose I should try the Forte (Agent) server and save a little money. John |

Supernews was better. -- http://improve-usenet.org/index.html aioe.org, Goggle Groups, and Web TV users must request to be white listed, or I will not see your messages. I suppose I should try the Forte (Agent) server and save a little money. OK. Well, maybe it's my ISP then, or someone who 'just happens' to be in the path because it goes 'inaccessible for up to hours at a time here. Funny you should mention that, there have been problems recently with the Virginmedia news server - which since they seemed to be fixed after a flood of complaints on the VMTS group, I'd assumed it was a 'local' problem. Using OE to post, it fails with Server error 441 - Error number 0x800CCCA9, attempting to open a message gives "message no longer on server" type message and Xnews simply states "No new messages" when a group is opened. |
