Tiled Printing with Word ??
Is there any way to print, with Word, so that I can get multiple
sheets wide that I can tape together? ...Jim Thompson -- | James E.Thompson, P.E. | mens | | Analog Innovations, Inc. | et | | Analog/Mixed-Signal ASIC's and Discrete Systems | manus | | Phoenix, Arizona Voice480)460-2350 | | | E-mail Address at Website Fax480)460-2142 | Brass Rat | | http://www.analog-innovations.com | 1962 | America: Land of the Free, Because of the Brave |

It's roughly 8.5" x 19" (landscape), so I'd like to print it onto 2 8.5" x 11" and tape together. (It's all text... scaled onto a single 8.5" x 11" it's hard to read.) ...Jim Thompson -- | James E.Thompson, P.E. | mens | | Analog Innovations, Inc. | et | | Analog/Mixed-Signal ASIC's and Discrete Systems | manus | | Phoenix, Arizona Voice480)460-2350 | | | E-mail Address at Website Fax480)460-2142 | Brass Rat | | http://www.analog-innovations.com | 1962 | America: Land of the Free, Because of the Brave |

I've just checked and can't find any method in Word, but my printer driver (Lexmark P4350) does it. There's an 'N-up' mode (multiple Word pages per printed sheet) and 'Poster' mode which appears to be what you need. -- John B |

I've just made an A3 page and printed it on a 3x3 matrix of A4 pages. Looks great. Thanks for making me go and do that, I've never tried it before. ;-) Have a look here http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html and see if you can find a new driver with those features. Alternatively, you could try making a PDF file with a custom paper size (I use PdfCreator) and getting a local print shop to run you off a copy. -- John B |

Yep, "Banner" is what I guess it is called in the non-CAD world ;-) In my schematic and graphic programs it's called "tiled' printing. Somewhat of a kludge, but try exporting it to PDF (using one of the free third-party PDF generators, if necessary) and then print that file from Acrobat or Foxit using the Print Zoom and Current View options. Painful enough that you'll probably only want to do it once but if it's a one-off that might be enough ... -- Rich Webb Norfolk, VA |

So "fit height", print view, slide right, print view, will work great! writes Jim Thompson posted to sci.electronics.design: Is there any way to print, with Word, so that I can get multiple sheets wide that I can tape together? ...Jim Thompson Excel does tiled printing. If you can transfer it and get the paper size stuff to work that might do it for you. If I understand it correctly, you are trying to produce large letters which are wall-to-wall on the paper, with little or no gap at the edges. You then tape several sheets together to form a banner. I do this by converting blocks of lettering (at a large font size) into a series of images, and then pasting the images onto the sheets of paper so that they reach (or overhang, if you wish) the edges. [If you cannot print right to the edge of the page, you will need to trim the paper as required.] You can create each image by doing a screen grab, pasting into most imaging programs, then saving each to a filename. Then open blank Word document(s), and insert the images. You can then adjust the size and position of the images as required (even over the edges of the page). -- Ian |
