Lathe value... I know I'm going to regret asking this.
We have an old lathe we're going to sell. Campus Purchasing likes to
offer things like this to employees first through a sealed bid. The money goes back into our department's account. Therefore, we have a vested interest in getting a decent price. We can set a minimum acceptable bid though. It seems in good shape except the cone pulley's surfaces are getting polished. Anyway here's what we have, and I'd like to get an idea what it's worth. Isn't Macalester in Minnesota? If there isn't any rust, then that setup
should bring something like $1200-1800. Note that you may well return yourself more money if you sell the base lathe and then sell each attachment separately. Ken - If this were selling on Ebay with all the tooling, taper, etc. it would
probably bring around $1200 or so. If it were my decision, I'd set the minimum for employees at around $800. A serious buyer should consider it a good deal at this price. John M |

I thought about splitting the accessories off for that very reason. But, since South Bend is gone, and LaBlonde is probably charging big bucks for any SB parts and accessories, I thought whoever got the lathe, should get it loaded with everything.
