Default Small router

I'm looking for a router that's bigger than a laminate trimmer but smaller
than, say, a PC 690.
I looked at a PC 0310 but didn't like the collet arrangement. (not self
releasing).
Have any ideas?
Thanks,

Max D.

Bosch may advertise it as a small router but I don't see any difference
between it and some of the laminate trimmers out there. Its the same
size motor and configuration.

Thanks.

If I was going to do that, I'd want the Heritage version...not to use..
just to put on my mantle.... or use it as a key-chain.

I just bought a Ridgid laminate trimmer to do some inlay work and to
occasionally run a round over bit. It comes with the PC-size opening to
mount a brass bushing. Also has the soft start feature and adjustable
speed. It was $99.99 at the BORG. So far I've been quite happy with it.
This mini-router fits nicely into the growing router arsenal which
includes a Hitachi M12V that stays in my router table and a Skil 1 1/2
HP plunger. The collet on the Ridgid is a two wrench system.

yeah, me too. It's obviously a cheap router, but whether the quality
is worse than the price is hard to tell without some hands-on. if you
do get one, please let us know how it works out.

I ordered one on a sort of "what the heck" impulse. I'll post my
impressions as soon as I've had a chance to try it out.

At the last wood show I attended, Trend was selling something looked a lot
like that, for a similar price.

But I have plenty of routers, for now. The next one is likely to be a
Festool, or something equally spendy, just to tick off Larry.

variable speed controls. Why pay more, ya sick rich bastihd?

Dunno what you have in mind, but take a peek at the Freud FT1000EK.
It's a slightly bigger than a laminate trimmer, rated at 1 3/4 HP, which I
find hard to believe, and best of all has a plunge base. I have one of
these and love it. I still consider it a lmainate trimmer.
