Default Small built-in cabinet project ... in progress.

Don't know what color this is, but I don't need the color to see the 3D
(chaytoyance?) effect of the finish:

The stain is two to three coats of a custom color, and the topcoat is NC
lacquer tinted with a toner to make it darker.

For stained birch plywood with birch banding, I kinda like it...

I like it too! And I'm not normally a big fan of birch plywood. But...
that's because I tend to think of it as stuff I've seen that was just
varnished.

There's my vocabulary word for the day, although it's apparently spelled
"chatoyance". Given that the first definition I found mentions a "cat's
eye" effect, it's not difficult to imagine the word's origin - among
some of your ancestors I'll bet. (chat + oeil)

I like it too, even though it only adds to the number of finishing
methods that I have no knowledge of.
