Small built-in cabinet project ... in progress.
Don't know what color this is, but I don't need the color to see the 3D
(chaytoyance?) effect of the finish: https://www.flickr.com/gp/karlcaillouet/y1bfsj The stain is two to three coats of a custom color, and the topcoat is NC lacquer tinted with a toner to make it darker. For stained birch plywood with birch banding, I kinda like it... -- eWoodShop: www.eWoodShop.com Wood Shop: www.e-WoodShop.net https://www.google.com/+eWoodShop https://plus.google.com/+KarlCaillouet/posts http://www.custommade.com/by/ewoodshop/ KarlCaillouet@ (the obvious) |

But... that's because I tend to think of it as stuff I've seen that was just varnished. -- -Mike- |

Given that the first definition I found mentions a "cat's eye" effect, it's not difficult to imagine the word's origin - among some of your ancestors I'll bet. I like it too, even though it only adds to the number of finishing methods that I have no knowledge of. --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast!
