I'm looking for some information on building a computer desk for myself. I pretty much have the design I want, but I've never really taken on a woodworking project like this before. I'm looking for help on making proper joints, building drawers, shelves, etc. Where are some good resources for the beginner woodworker that would help me out. (Any good online information would be great.)Thanks for your help,Tony Zappia(please email response along with posting)

Try working from a set of plans. This will guide you and you can investigate methods of shaping the wood to the proper configuration, per joint type. Even if you just find plans of something vaugely similar it will answer lots of questions. Try looking at American Furniture Design http://www.americanfurnituredsgn.com. The guy is kind of rude but has decent prices for good plans, unlike some of these web fake sites that have tons of garbage.

I'm not sure what your budget is for this project, but triple it at
least (that's a little joke)! What sort of drafting expertise are you
bringing in? The SketchUp program is pretty cool and free and will help
you think about your design from the get-go.

I recently started a related thread called TV Stand Project and
Cabinetry which is related to your interests.

I'll look forward to hearing more about your project as I work on my own.

Cheers,
Bill
