Actually, he just used a regular bat and added the electric violin
components to it. He drilled holes in the bat and atached the various
parts. And the whole thing is battery powered so he doesn't need to be near
an outlet.

I wonder how different the fingering on the bat is different from a regular
violin.

W/ slow dialup I haven't seen the video but in order for it to be in the
range of a violin the length from bridge to neck fret was probably made
to be very similar; hence fingering would also be nearly equivalent.

Otherwise, it would scale depending on the length and the string tension
would be adjusted appropriately as is the case for childs' 3/4-size
instruments, for example.

Well, I think violin's have a neck that is less than 1/2" in diameter
(without the fingerboard) so I think the bat would be harder to play because
of the size (and a lot of other reasons)! A player would need to learn new
"reference points" and get a new shoulder rest!
