I believe 3 solid pages of crap is the worst I've seen and I've been

Maybe it's time for people to discuss NewsProxy again. It sure cleaned up my newsgroups. While Outlook Express was capable of filtering spam based on a lot of parameters, it didn't help with crossposts. It's been my experience that most spam is crossposted; hence it has probably done more to clean my groups than any killfile rule I have in place using Outlook Express alone. I can't comment on today's spam as I haven't seen any of it. BTW, I first learned of NewsProxy (aka nfilter) here in this news group when we were being buried in crap maybe 18 months ago. -- Mortimer Schnerd, RN mschnerdatcarolina.rr.com |

Colin I've noticed posts with gmail addresses are also quite often spammy. The problem exists because of Google, they need to do something about it. I am at the other extreme now, Easynews allows binaries into text groups if they make it as far as their servers without being filtered upstream. -- Froz... Lits Slut#9 |

Most newsgroups, like this one, are unmoderated. Some ISPs attempt to do some filtering, but generally, it is up to the user. Learn how to use kill files or just ignore the obvious SPAM. No one forces you to read it. |
