I believe 3 solid pages of crap is the worst I've seen and I've been
lurking for years. A hearty congratulations to whoever is supposed to
filter this stuff.

This is a non-moderated newsgroup. There *is* no one to filter SPAM. Maybe
you should wander over to alt.idiots-correct_tampon-usage. You might learn
something there.

Look at the bright side.
Now you know where to get some cheap sneakers, a cheap watch, and to
make your dick look bigger.
It simply does not get any better than that.

There are some spam posts on the list today. Different news feeds
filter with varying amounts of effectiveness...I can see nine spam
posts, but apparently DADGAD is getting more.

If he's using Google he is: as he said, three pages of crap. But three
years without realizing there is no moderator?

Maybe it's time for people to discuss NewsProxy again. It sure cleaned up my
newsgroups. While Outlook Express was capable of filtering spam based on a lot
of parameters, it didn't help with crossposts. It's been my experience that
most spam is crossposted; hence it has probably done more to clean my groups
than any killfile rule I have in place using Outlook Express alone.

I can't comment on today's spam as I haven't seen any of it.

BTW, I first learned of NewsProxy (aka nfilter) here in this news group when we
were being buried in crap maybe 18 months ago.

Supernews filters out a lot of the bull**** (although some of the right
wingnut stuff gets through). I do wonder though how much good stuff
gets filtered.

My ISP does very little filtering, but by killfiling all posts from
google.com, I've eliminated about 90% of usenet spam.

I've noticed posts with gmail addresses are also quite often spammy. The
problem exists because of Google, they need to do something about it.

I used Supernews several years ago, they have *very* aggressive filters,
I don't even remember them allowing any cross posting. I am at the
other extreme now, Easynews allows binaries into text groups if they
make it as far as their servers without being filtered upstream.

You are talking about yourself. Most newsgroups, like this one, are
unmoderated. Some ISPs attempt to do some filtering, but generally, it is
up to the user. Learn how to use kill files or just ignore the obvious SPAM.
No one forces you to read it.
