Kentucky Cracks Down on Tree Thieves
I thought this might be of interest to people in this group. I quoted
the first couple of paragraphs; more information at the link below. --- start quote --- Kentucky Cracks Down on Tree Thieves Thieves across the country are targeting trees in the latest crime wave to hit the American people and environment. These dastardly criminals are illegally cutting down valuable trees for timber, often targeting elderly property owners. The problem is becoming a serious environmental issue and an increasingly common problem for landowners. Thieves can make thousands of dollars by cutting down just a few trees, while they're highly unlikely to face criminal charges if they're caught. Most prosecutors consider the crime a property dispute to be settled by civil courts. --- end quote --- http://www.environmentalgraffiti.com...ee-thieves/806 |

Kentucky Cracks Down on Tree Thieves
I don't know what ****es me off more.
Stealing, or screwing over old people. Or worse, screwing over old people by stealing from them. I didn't worry about so much until my parents had things stolen (my Mom's original wedding band, almost 57 years old) from a health care worker that came to their house. They didn't even know how many things were gone until they were alerted by the agency itself, who was called by the police. They never gave that girl a second thought since she seemed "so nice". It was totally unlike my father to be trusting (or even nice) to someone he didn't know, but he is so messed up physically he was grateful for the help to get in an out of his chair, help to the bathroom, and having a hot meal in the middle of the day. He never suspected a thing. And if he wants something done at his house, all the service guy bidding the work has to do is listen to his stories of serving in the Korean war. If they will listen, he will sign. Mom isn't all there anymore. I think the good folks of Kentucky should put a bounty on those jerkwads and make lampshades out of their dried asses for the old folks they screw. Just my 0.02. Robert My Mom is |

I believe Texas has a "Purple Tree" law to prevent tree rustling. |
