INSPIRATION - Belt Sander Holder

My first requirement when purchasing a belt sander is that the top is
flat so it will lie upsidedown by itself. The second requirement is that
it have a trigger lock so it stays on by itself. The rest of the
functions I don't require that it do by itself.

Putting a sander upside down on a bench, then turning it on, would
be way too scarey for me - you didn't mention fixing it in place. It
would have to be in a jig, then the jig fastened firmly down, before I
would want one upside down running near me - which renders the flatness
of the top meaningless. And, if it didn't have a lock so it stays on my
itself, no prob, I'd use a zip tie to hold the trigger down. Then have
a switch on the socket to turn it on and off - same as my router table.
