Can a response by a group regular, by definition, even qualify as a
troll?. I responded to what he wrote, as he wrote it. He said that
what he wrote wasn't what he meant, but that I should have known what
he meant. To me, that certainly qualifies as communication skills that
need improvement.

I used to get all excited about this subject and would write post after
post about it. Then I realized that I was just encouraging them, Now I
scroll through the multiple pages of spam, and click on the woodworking
posts that interest me. I have noticed that the more posts I write in
answer to legimate posters, the more "harvesters" grab my addy and I get
more spam in my e-mail list. Such is life!

Technically, yes, but that wasn't how I read your post...

The wreck has been invaded a few times recently. The best thing to do
is update your filters (especially paying attention to any post that
goes to three or four groups (your choice) and anything that's
crossposted to a religion or pet newsgroup.

And, most important, don't EVER respond to a troll post, no matter how
much you want to rip a strip off the poster. Just say "bang, you're
dead" in you mind, and carry on.

The point is that you understood what he was saying, but pretended play
dumb and criticise his communication skills while you were at it. That
makes YOU the Asshole and a wannabe troll. That's about all that can be said

Easier still to filter. Just set you filter to killfile anything
crossposted to 3 or more newsgroups. I never see then unless someone
responds and removes all the other newsgroups.
