![]() Below is a list of my tools that was made last year for my insurance company. I don't understand. Are you saying I should be ashamed because you have spent more on tools than I have? Have you used any of them? Probably not if you haven't seen a need for DC. But you say you are not a troll. Then what is your point? |

![]() "Mike Marlow" wrote in message ... Hey - I use my tools and I don't have a dust collector, nor do I see the need for one. A few years ago, I built a bedframe for someone. Kind of like a waterbed frame but this one held an air mattress. Constructed mostly of mdf with plastic laminate. I was standing at the tablesaw, having ripped a few sheets of this stuff, when he drove up. He took a look at me, standing ankle deep in mdf dust, wearing a respirator, glasses and looking like a human shaped piece of mdf. He decided right then I needed a dust collector. We headed straight down to Rockler and he bought me a Jet DC 1100. Don't know if I would have ever gotten around to buying one myself but after having one for a while, I wouldn't be without it. -- -Mike- |

" Hey - I use my tools and I don't have a dust collector, nor do I see the need for one. -- -Mike- I was luke warm on dust collectors until I bought one. I can not figure out why anyone with power tools does not have one! Greg I'd probably be writing those same words to someone Greg, if I'd gotten a DC at some earlier point. A lot of guys have echoed something similar. But... here I am - been all these years without one and sawdust and wood chips just seems like a part of woodworking. Not to say there are not times or tools that I would love to have even a shop vac hooked up to - my jointer, my router table, etc. What would I do if I didn't have that pile to sweep up? I mean - what would be the evidence that I've done something??? (Don't say the evidence would be the finished product - there's often a 12 year completion cycle to project started around here...) A lot of guys make the point about the value of a DC when working with MDF, but that point is somewhat lost on me. I absolutely deplore the stuff and I use it very infrequently. If I used it more often I think I'd hold a more immediate sense of need for a DC just to keep the dust out of the air. That stuff is just nasty - in every respect. -- -Mike- |

Actually, a list of tools, even as impressive as yours does nothing to "put a bunch of morons to shame". Nor do your professional credentials or your personal interests. If you ever stood the chance of putting anybody here to shame it sure wouldn't be this way. A Troll I am not. The evidence of this has been found lacking. -- -Mike- |

Not for long, anyways. First big mistake is too often the last. They might be total morons as respects other aspects of their lives, but they KNOW how to drive that train. I might also point out that, between classes and practicum, they spend more time training than EE's. Bill |

There must have been a few pounds of grease agound the cutter head. I was lucky enough that my dealer delivered and assembled it for me for no extra charge. Now I just need to tweek the in feed and out feed extensions. Congrats! It will serve you well. Thank you. I am sure it will. |

You've got a pile of tools there. However, that doesn't for one second
suggest that you have the knowledge or skill to use them properly. All it says is that you've got money to spend. As far as the "morons" comment goes in addition to your claim you're not a troll, the only thing that you've confirmed is that you've got a big mouth. |
