jet pen lathe
Has anyone tried one of these?
http://www.rockler.com/findit.cfm?page=10692 Now that I have a place to work from, it still would be nice to have something in the semi for when I am stuck sitting. Thnx, Greg |

It's about $120 more, but IMHO it's much more flexible--you can turn larger objects, and you can also add an extension to do larger stuff. Jim |

Haven't tried it.........looked at one.........wasn't impressed. It appears
to be large enough for pens, but not much else. I'd go for a Jet Mini (I did!) if I were you. Much more machine with greater capabilities. The Jet pen lathe is good for........pens, and not much else. Barry "patarini" wrote in message om... I currently haver a jet mini and a mercury lathe for the shop. I am
trying to find something small, light, and low powered(has to run off my inverter) to use in the semi when I get stuck sitting. Really want something under 30 pounds, and that takes up little space so thought that the jet pen lathe or maybe a small monotube from grizzly would work if people liked them. any suggestions or ideas appreciated. THNX Greg, You might also look at some of the smaller, lighter lathes offered by Penn State. While they look like a Jet Mini, they are definitely lighter and lower horsepower. Harry |
