It's with regret that I'm unsuscribing from this group. I don't (will
not) use a newsgroup reader and anyway it's been so long since I've
seen anyything but torlls. Wish you real guys the best. I just don't
have time anymore and I'd rather read the SCUBA forums than sort
through trolls.

Then you have nobody to blame but yourself.

I really don't understand that. Every other method I've tried for
accessing newsgroups is awful compared to Pan or Gravity, or Xnews or
even Thunderbird. You are, as the saying goes, cutting off your nose to
spite your face.

and anyway it's been so long since I've seen
anyything but torlls.

Now *that's* funny. My newsreader handles all that - I almost never see
a troll/spam post.

And your point of this announcement? Looking for pity? Looking for people to
beg you to stay? Who cares. Get the **** out if you're going.

Jeepers, you folks are ruthless. Get you manhood caught in the table
saw this morning or what?

Can't say that I recall any posts from this fellow, but that's no reason
to rip into him. Not like he was trolling. A simple fair-thee-well
would do nicely. But I guess kindness has never been in vogue.

Burt, whoever you are, I wish you the best. Haven't been diving in
years, but stay safe & have fun...

what's really funny is the chain of responses - the choices a

1. the guy did what he said, in which case he doesn't see any of them, no
matter how kind or nasty, or
2. the guy lied and he does see them, but to keep up the lie he can't
respond

there is no way to know the difference

It's like shouting at a piece of wood --- I hereby leave you, you will be
unturned forever --- does the wood care?

Dear Burtwitlin,

I'm always sorry to see rcw lose a member, but I'm reconciled to the
reality and appreciate that you notified us and gave an explanation. It
requires a modicum of participation and modest attention to subject
lines to enjoy belonging to an unmoderated forum.

This apparently isn't for you. Most of us "real guys" don't find it
difficult to sort through obvious trolls, but since you do, I wish you
well and hope that you find SCUBA more satisfying than this long
standing, mutually helpful woodturning ng. I for one would welcome your
return and active participation, should you change your mind.

How to filter unwanted posts has been discussed in this newsgroup *repeatedly*
for a number of years. The OP explicitly stated that he refuses to use a
method proven to eliminate nearly all troll postings. He has, as I said,
nobody to blame for his dissatisfaction but himself. Usenet is better off
without him.

He did contribute to the group. I don't know why everyone

Mayhap he contributed under a different name?
