Default larger mtr for jet bandsaw?

I have a two year old jet 18" bandsaw and was wondering if it was
possible to exchange the 1.5hp mtr with a 3.0hp mtr and where are they
available from. I'm not interested in raising the lenght of the
cutting leve but with all the maple and walnut i'm cutting the 1.5
is many times just up to the job. tks Don

Hi Don

Take a look at the surplus center, $79.95 for a 3 hp motor, I would not
have a problem trading motors on my band saw, YMMV

Using a appropriate blade on your band saw may be all that is required
though, and would be a lot less costly.

However here is the link to the surplus center

http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.as...name=electricT

Have fun and take care
