New stop-cocks?
Hi all,
I've just discovered that Balfour Beatty have dug up the pavement outside my house. I phoned them up, and discovered that they are fitting some new stopcocks for Northumbrian Water. Whilst it would have been nice of them to tell me *before* starting the work, I can't see any particular reason to object to this. Should I? Ben. |

starting the work, I can't see any particular reason to object to this. Should I? I wouldn't. It's nice having a new stopcock, however incompetent the installer is at informing you. Personally, I'd just be grateful that they were doing it for free. Christian. |

I'm not quite sure why you should object, given that it's not on your property? -- *Time is the best teacher; unfortunately it kills all its students. Yes, I'm inclined to think along similar lines. In that case, I shall consider myself fortunate and restrict my interference to checking that they don't nick the old York Stone paving... Ben. |

Yorkshire Water recently informed everyone within a large area that they were going to be doing various works and that they would keep disruption to a minimum.I've only seen evidence of the work once but I was pleased that they informed us. They said there was an obligation to tell customers. Mary |

On a related note, is there a *requirement* for the water co to have their own stopcock ouside a property? (I posted here a while ago about wanting to move a redundant internal stopcock on an old water main; however there is no external stopcock that we can find which is making life difficult!) David |
