Looking to buy a petrol strimmer. Originally decided on a McCulloch 250
(25cc) unit, but come across a "Talon 32cc Petrol Engine Grass Trimmer" -
which is an similar spec unit with and extra 7cc, or the Challenge Xtreme
Grass Trimmer from Argos (£69.99) which is 34cc

Anyone used a talon or challenge product?

if you intend it to work in season 3, 4 and 5 etc i wouldnt bother with
anything mcCulloch or similar.

I have a 6 yr old Stihl which was £170 and its still going strong, starts
after 4-5 pulls after being in the garage all winter.

You get what you pay for, and believe me there is nothing more infuriatng
than a 2 stroke that wont start / idle / re start etc.

Nope. Our local Garden machinery supplier (offshoot of farm machinery
operation, BTW, rather than garden centre) sold us an Efco, which I'd
certainly recommend. I'm pretty sure it's an Efco 8250, 25cc.

My advice would be to try & find a local specialist supplier. Maybe
the one that supplies your local council, or similar organisation. If
they also sell to the public then they'll probably be able to supply
(and maintain!) something appropriate.
