My oil fired boiler is mounted in a cupboard, within a WC, within a
utility room (see diagram below). The cupboard is vented via louvre
doors, plus a 50mm x 150mm grille to the underfloor area. The utility
room also has a 200mm x 200mm vent, behind a fridge.

I would like to use the excess heat from boiler cupboard to provide some
background heating to the conservatory alongside.

Is it safe to simply use a extractor fan near the ceiling, or can anyone
suggest an alternative?

If the boiler is not a balanced flue type then you run the risk of causing
flue reversal and drawing fumes back down a conventional flue and blowing
them into the conservatory. Some oil boilers are more at risk of this than
others. What make and model is yours?
