Michael Heseltine made flamboyant speeches about jobs locked up in
planners filing cabinets and making bonfires of controls, but that
was before he and Mrs T came to office. An article in last month's
House Builder magazine ends by saying something like ".. house
builders can only hope Blair or Brown occupies No. 10 Downing Street
after the next election ...", basically because their idea of
deregulating planning is to take it away from ODPM and give it to
LA's ... who will succumb to the NIMBYs every time.
