It is difficult on Ebay to find out where it is being shipped from. Many
Chinese sellers claim UK stock and shipping (with estimated 48hour Royal
Mail delivery) but often when you get the item a week or two later it
has been shipped directly from China.

imagine you had £35 in your account and you buy something from chyyyyna
on ebay for £34 the *******s don't tell you that they are adding 20% vat
before you push the buy now button.....anyway ebay usually tell you
about every stupid minor change to their systems but there was nothing
about VAT in their messages ....

you should be happy; it's one of the benefits of Brexit.

No, just keeping some of the EU rules and something very unlikely to
change as the Government's finances try to recover from the (extra) debt
mountain that has been created during the pandemic.

I wonder if some of the international postal rules may soon change where
countries/postal services honour the delivery of items from overseas but
where the postal charge in the country of origin is a very small
fraction of the cost of sending the same package in the the UK? Some
Ebay Chinese sourced items (incl postage) are much less than a UK second
class stamp.

Thats one of the consequences of brexit, the supplier
has to collect the VAT now and remit it to the tax man.

Only if you are stupid.
