I can only park a car properly if it has a trunk....estate cars and hatchbacks are always a problem.... I much prefer parking and manouvering vans, the rear corners are visible in the mirrors. My car has a letter box slot view out via the interior mirror and due to the curve of the sides, I cannot see anything to help judge where my tail is. Luckily, it has parking sensors and a reversing camera. |

Odddly enough, having used wings for years, I actually find the camera not really any better, Perhaps its easier for noobs My car has self drive parallel and perpendicular parking. The parallel parking is a real boon as I can watch for oncoming traffic in the mirrors without straining my neck but in the 2+ years Ive had it I still have not used the perpendicular parking being much more comfortable with using the door mirrors to position and the rear radar for distance. I do notice the problem when parking front in in a carpark but other than that its no problem. The best cars should have a camera at each corner and show you the one with the the least clearance auto. The Golf allegedly helps you reverse with a trailer with the reversing camera and plenty auto park now. |

I can only park a car properly if it has a trunk.... estate cars and hatchbacks are always a problem.... Weird, I have never had a problem. Can you even see the back of the car with a normal sedan when backing ? problem is I make allowances for a boot on the end of the estate or hatchback.therefor leave too much space.... OK, that makes sense, but why does that stop you backing successfully ? modern cars are too round shaped you can't see the externalities...I liked your own personal sea of sheet metal at the front and a nice square boot at the rear...... like these cars..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7qLQ-UF9Sw&t=27s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMnmKdBmw14&t=68s === Aye, them were't days laddie! |

A rear view camera makes reversing into a space very easy, especially the ones that overlay your projected path onto the image. +1 Odddly enough, having used wings for years, I actually find the camera not really any better, Perhaps its easier for noobs. It's easier for those of us who are getting stiff. I use a 500kg van quite a lot these days, as you get used to parking entirely with mirrors it does help with that problem. I used to be very cautious parking the 3.5 tonner (which does have a camera) but I'm turning into quite a white van man with it. |
