A mate was saying that with a smallish group of you up Lundin, a round
of drinks and nibbles will knock a big hole out of £100! ;-(

Some pubs were requiring a minimum spend of 40 quid.

Feck. I just think what I could do with 40 quid! ;-(

I would spend it in the pub.

;-)

I guess if it was on food 'in the pub' then in principle it's as good
as a cafe or restaurant but if on beer, what's the appeal (for you in
particular) of drinking in the pub over at home (being one who has
never been 'into' pubs myself)?

It's where I meet my friends and socialise.

Thanks.

Are they generally other people on their own, or are you also with
your Mrs, are they also couples or is it a complete random mix?

Can it be just for 'a drink' (n chat / whatever) or would you normally
also have a meal?

The only time I have really been to pubs / restaurants on my own was
when I was with Dateline and went there (as a public place) to go on
(first) dates. So it served the purpose of being both public and
private (especially when busy and you have to shout into the ear of
the person sitting next to you to be heard) and ideally somewhere half
way between where you both lived.

Otherwise, people would come to my house or me theirs.

When I was a lad, my mates, after being chucked out of the pub for
trying to buy beer whilst under age would often end up back at my shed
(in Mum / Dads back garden), drinking the beer my Mum and Dad bought
me so I could have a beer if I wanted without having to try to get
into a pub or offy. ;-)

I was a sponsored driver for RC cars and boats and so was often
working late into the night getting ready for the next event. Or
building more gear for my mobile disco, so I was there anyway. ;-)

Cheers, T i m
