Default Baumatic Gas Leaks

Anyone else had problems with either Baumatic appliances leaking gas or
Baumatic`s bizarre customer `service`?

Thanks
Adam

Please don't use words like "Baumatic" and "service" in the same sentence.

I will never ever buy anything from them again. Even one of IMM's cheap
tool suppliers have better ideas of how to deal with customers than them !

It is some relief that it is not just me .

Baumatic customer service really is quite incredibly bad.

For a taste just look at the opening page on www.baumatic.com

wonder how sales are in southern hemisphere....

Just wondered if anyone had encountered Baumatic using different coupling
washers than other makers for their gas appliances?

Not attempting DIY gas fitting just wondering....

Thanks
Adam

Wouldn't surprise me. Ours was a cooker hood and it was obviously quite
literally cobbled together from a heap of parts they just happened to have
lieing around when the order reached them. They then sent it by rowing boat
to the UK where they awaited the next time the Roman fifth legion happened
to be marching north to Chester again.

Default Baumatic Gas Leaks

Got quite a few Baumatic items over the years and never had a problem.
Never had to deal with their service department so I can't comment.
But I did have to deal with Stoves customer service over a dodgy
extractor hood that had a bad reverberation and the engineer was
useless. He simply held the case with his hand to reduce the noise and
advised me to stick some packing between the hood and the side wall
unit!

Oh well. We have a Stoves halogen hob under the Baumatic hood and it hummed
a bit. They were very understanding that this was not expected of a hob
this price, arranged for a replacement board then used the bits to achieve
the quietest solution. Excellent service.

If the appliances are leaking gas, wouldn't Trading Standards or
whichever body approves gas appliances for use be the next step?

Who is responsible for the approval of gas appliances these days anyway?

Contrast the 4 unpaid hours our CORGI registered gas fitter spent trying to
trace the leak, he was concerned for our safety and his CORGI registration,
with Baumatic trying to blame our fitter without seeing the appliance and
then telling me complaining further would be"wasting your time"

Trading Standards have noted an interest.

Appears to be a somewhat grey area and manufacturing appliances appears far
less tightly regulated than fitting them.

Be fair to say that intend to find out and make sure Baumatic are far more
acutely aware of their responsibilties.
