I've seen a couple of adverts for and DIY descriptions of plinth or kick-panel drawers. On looking at the detail these seem to be simply normal ball-bearing runner drawers put into the space under a normal cabinet. Am I missing anything or is this what they are? The cabinets I'm thinking of adding these to have sides right down to the floor, not feet, so it is fairly straightforward I would guess. However I'm not sure that I fancy reaching in far enough to place the rear screws for the runners, especially as these need to be pretty accurate (I've fitted quite a few normal height ones in home built cabinets). So has anyone seen 'under cabinet' drawers which are just a box on wheels? We're only aiming to store infrequently used stuff in them so the ease of use of ball-bearing runner drawers isn't really necessary. Are there 'under bed' drawers like this? We use wicker baskets, no wheels, ideal for vegetables, on our tiled floor. The plinth was discarded and the exposed raw chipboard edges covered with a piece of wooden moulding. Simple, works well and looks IMO better than the plinth. Thanks, that could work for us though the mice might have a field day (we have three cats but that's not enough to keep the mice at bay!). I guess we don't have to store vegetables there, we do similarly have a tiled floor. -- Chris Green · |
