My son handed this in for me to look at as it was working
intermittently. I have discovered that even with full charge batteries if I turn it on and wiggle the batteries it stops working. This makes me think the metal terminals are not making good contact, however they actually look ok. Anyone else had a similar problem. |

Could be in the battery. Have you tried a different one? |

Could it be a problem in the battery itself or maybe the motor brushes are knackered? Brian Initially that was my thoughts, but if I hold the drill switch on, I can turn the drill on and off just by wiggling the battery, with both batteries. For the moment I dont want to open up the drill case to check the motor brushes. |

As it's both batteries, it's unlikely (but possible) it's the connections on those. I see no option but to dismantle the drill to see what is going on. It could just be the springy connections are out of place, or there might be a solder joint problem. |

Â* Brian If the motor brushes fail or you get metallic swarf into the works then the magic smoke tends to come out fairly promptly with some sparks too. Initially that was my thoughts, but if I hold the drill switch on, I can turn the drill on and off just by wiggling the battery, with both batteries. For the moment I dont want to open up the drill case to check the motor brushes. Which model is it? I had one from Screwfix a few years back that developed a battery fault but it was more that it was intermittent contact when in use as a hammer drill and that the catch mechanism also failed (or it swelled) so that the battery had to be prized out. I junked it eventually because it was too much of a PITA to use as battery life also declined. I think it was the last of their NiCad models. Came in a kit with extra battery, charger and a torch. Well eventually I had to dig inside it, could not see anything wrong but I bent the prongs out a bit in the base that the battery connects to and so far it seems to have worked but not tested in a working enviroment yet. |

Certainly. All above told the truth. Let's discuss this question.
