Except there is no status quo as such.

The EU is evolving. Quite quickly in some areas.

People were scorned a few years ago for claiming the EU might build
itself an army of some sort. Now Macron is pushing hard for one.

Ah - right. Now say what would be a bigger threat to us. An EU army we
were a major player in, or one where we have zero influence?

Neither would be any threat to the UK given NATO.
