Well, if you have visted a copycat site, then delete it from your
browser history PDQ!

If you do all the right things, these copycat sites are nothing to
worry about. Sadly, many don't do all the right things.

What are all the right things ?

You seem to think from your address book is the correct place get such
things.

I do it the other way Roboform keeps track of the url currently being
used and allows you to click on the icon to supply the username and
password when the url matches what you used previously.

That way, even if you click on a link in an email or popup
and get to a fake site, the icon which fills the username
and password doesnt appear so you know its a fake site.

It does a lot more than just that, it automatically fills
in forms on screen when you tell it to so when you
start using a new supplier, it fills in all the address
details when registering if you tell it to do that.

Main problem with it is that it doesnt work as
well on the iphones and ipads because apple
wont let apps do that stuff on their devices
due to the sandboxing they have in iOS.

I don't really like auto-fill to that extent.

That way, even if you click on a link in an email or popup
and get to a fake site, the icon which fills the username
and password doesnt appear so you know its a fake site.

When I went to paypay nothing was filled in autiomatically as I don't like auto-fill.
If I go to a new sight I want to be prompted for details as I use differnt details depending on what I;m doing. For instance in my financail transactions with my bank I've never used the name whisky dave and have never used gmail.

Same with work related I never use WD it;s always either my college email or grouplab email address.

I've never wanted that option, even though I cna see it has some advantages..

Yep seems like a good choice to me sandboxing that is.

More fool you. If you have a different password for
each site, it makes no sense to be looking each one
up and typing the damned thing in every time.

I don't do that, I only use auto-fill if it works when I hit the forst letter of my name and it comes up with that name, because depending on the site depends on what email address I use and even personal details.
If I'm filling in a save the whales petition when I hit D the first name fills in as Dave.
if I was sending money to that petition or collection my first name would be david.
I never use dave in any financail activity so if I get an email saying Hello Dave you need to login to ensuer your email box isn't full (or any other such wording) I can instantly assume it's a fake/phising email.

That way, even if you click on a link in an email or popup

It would if I had autofill enabled, that's what it's used for, that;s the ideas behind it.

But I don't want to, I prefer entering my own details depending on what it is.
