Have you got the red mist? Not rage, dust from the Sahara apparently. I
first noticed that the world was tinged pink when I came indoors and
wondered why the kitchen lights seemed vaguely green. The sun has a
weird reddish glow surrounding it. The sky, when you look at it, is a
bit pink.

Yes I'd noticed that the shafts of light falling on my desk and floor
were a pinkish hue

Indeed. Goes well with the autumn colours, here in Sheffield at least

More widespread than that. It is uniform dark yellow thick cloud over
North Yorkshire and it has been getting denser since this morning. It
makes the grass and orange tiled roofs look positively luminous.

Breeze is getting up a bit but nothing too serious so far. It was almost
eerily calm here until lunchtime. Big trees are still in full leaf so it
could do a lot of damage if the wind really gets up.

Very gloomy here in N Yorks, It was very misty earlier but that's lifted
a little now, very odd light though.

I blame the new array of solar panel Lord Bolton has put in the old
quarry near me. They are sucking up all a lot of our sunlight...

Just looked here. Suffolk. VERY milky tea. It's gone from sunny to a
dead flat 10/10 overcast.

the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the

I remarked to my wife that the dashboard displays in my car looked
pinker than normal.

Half an hour earlier we both independently remarked that the daylight
light level for the time of day was reminiscent of our trip to Truro
before totality of the solar eclipse of 1999.

I didn't notice the daylight colour temperature getting any colder,
but it is well known that human vision has auto white balance with no
defeat switch.

In a bizarre twist is has suddenly cleared to sunshine although the air
pressure is falling quite rapidly now and wind getting stronger. The air
temperature outside is now 3C warmer than inside the house and rising!

I suspect anything loose and not tied down will be flying tonight.

sunset but still quite high so there must be a lot of fine dust.

Thanks for your concern. Damage limited to the garage door being pushed
in a bit by the force of the wind and dead branches have dropped out of
trees. No power cuts or trees across the local roads and the number of
leaves on the trees roughly halved overnight. Lots of windfall apples!

A really bad storm and our village is invariably cut off without power
and requiring land rover across the fields and a chain saw to get out.

I suspect anything loose and not tied down will be flying tonight.

Air pressure is rising now almost as quickly as it fell yesterday.

Pretty wild overnight but not that unusual for this neck of the woods.

Still quite violently gusty this morning with fast moving low clouds in
gaps of clear sky. Thin waning crescent moon looking down with a smile.
