Default Riverside cottage 11

Builders seem to have a jaundiced view of installing cavity closers.
Possibly because it impacts on their profit margin and comes towards the
end of the job.

Building regs. are clear enough so is this just something building
control don't check or...?

When you say cavity closers, do you mean brick or block returns that seal
the cavity at doors/windows etc? If so, then these haven't been commonplace
for at least 15 years, the cavity is left open completely and then insulated
plastic closers are installed. Building control do check prior to plastering
so it's unlikely they'll get away with it. trying to plasterboard over these
cavities is a PITA as the small amount of PB that touches the exterior
brickwork has neither any insulation or DPC protection and is highly likely
to go black PDQ!
