Control4 home automation or alternative
I'm toying with the idea of utilising Control4 kit in the
extension/Cinema Room/Grow Room After having an insightful chat a few months back with a home automation chap; being able to go into the mini-cine. room and press one button to dim the lights, close the blinds, fire up the amps. switch on the projector etc knowing (now) that modern kit can be controlled from a central "brain" via ip/ethernet hook-up to LAN seems like a great solution but there seems to be very little by way of "how-to" guides anywhere. Just wondering if anyone here has first hand experience with Control4 or another IP based system like it. If not, I'm also looking for a way to simultaneously power up 3 power amps 1 x AV Amp and a brace of Technics SE-M100 Monoblock(?) Amps without resorting to simply plugging them all into a 4-way strip and flicking them on/off at the wall. Power-consumption wise the AV amp has MAX consumption of 1.5kW and the Technics amps, while only 100W/channel run a max. input of 900W each (great for cold nights) IIRC. Though somehow in a small enclosed room the likelihood of pushing anywhere near these upper limits is a a complete absurdity but still a possibility to be considered. Cheers - Pete |
