Default patio doors

I have been rubbing down some hardwood patio doors ready to paint with Sadolin. I noticed that around one of the nails in a door the wood had started to rot. This small area is the only rot in the doors. I have scraped out a cone of all the softened wood. I have checked the back of a half tin of wet rot treatment in the shed that says to replace all wood within 45cm then paint twice. This would mean basically rebuilding the door, not something I feel up to. What is the best way to proceed?

In short, ********.

Dry the wood and keep it dry (ie protected with sadolin etc) and the rot
will go away.

To deal with the immediate rot in a mahogany window frame, what I did
was to dig out the soft stuff and treat with Wood Hardener

http://www.screwfix.com/p/r/63540

Give that a day to dry out and set.

Then fill with

http://www.screwfix.com/p/r/51811

(comes in white, natural and dark). It's 2 part and sticks like crazy.
Sands OK.

For a big area of rot (couple of inches) I got a piece of maranti
(african version of mahogany, more available than true mahogany) and
spliced that in.

For some joints that were liable to move and were always letting in
water, I injected wood Hardener with a long nosed syringe then, after a
day, painted with Sadolin then filled the joint with Geocel The Works
black sealant. It seems to stick better than either acrylic or silicone
but hates non water based paints, so had to go on last.

This is the sort of thing you do with a dry rot infestation of structural
timber. Eg, the roof, floors etc.

For the likes of a door, just dig out the soft bit, treat with the rot
killer and fill and paint.
